We understand because we are landowners, too. While we would all love to follow a strict 100-year management plan for our timber, we know that timber is a financial asset and life constantly changes. Sometimes, this requires you to harvest timber you would normally prefer to let grow. When financial needs drive a harvest instead of strict management, we will work with you to balance your goals while minimizing long-term impacts on your woods.

Do not be fooled. Not all “selective harvests” are created equal. Many landowners do not realize that simply cutting only the “good” and most valuable trees is the worst type of harvest you can do. You must harvest a balance of “good” and “bad” trees each time.

If you do not, you are eventually left with nothing but “bad” trees to re-seed and reproduce. This ultimately lowers your future timber value instead of increasing it.
